America said on Monday (05/20/2024) that his rival Iran He asked him for help after the helicopter crash that killed the president Ibrahim RaisiAlthough Washington expressed his condolences, the President “Blood stained hands“.
Iran, which has not had diplomatic relations with Washington since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, went to Iran on Sunday after Raisi’s old helicopter crashed in fog, the State Department said.
“The government of Iran asked us for help,” spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters. “We said we would be willing to help any government in this situation,” he added. “Ultimately, mostly for logistical reasons, we were unable to provide that assistance.”
He declined to go into details or describe how the two countries interact. But he pointed out that Iran immediately sought help in locating Raisi’s helicopter. He died along with his foreign minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and seven others.
The crash comes after the US and Iran reportedly held recent talks in Oman to boost stability following clashes between Iran and Israel.
The State Department expressed “official condolences” over the deaths in a statement. “As Iran elects a new president, we reaffirm our support for the Iranian people and their struggle for human rights and fundamental freedoms,” he said.
President Joe Biden’s administration has called the condolence standard unsupportive of Rice, who as a judge presided over mass executions of political prisoners and whose authorities cracked down on mass protests led by women under his presidency.
“He’s a man with blood on his hands,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters, accusing Raisi of “egregious” human rights abuses in Iran and his support for groups in the region such as Hamas.
However, it noted that “as in any other case, we generally mourn the death and offer official condolence accordingly.”
In the past, the United States has, if not always, condoled opposition leaders through messages sent about Joseph Stalin, Kim Il Sung, and Fidel Castro.
